Singing with Kellie!
October 16–17, 2015
To kick off their 40th season, the Aeolian Singers are hosting a weekend workshop and concert at St. Andrew’s United Church. This is a wonderful opportunity to sing with an intergenerational choir of over 100 women’s voices under the direction of special guest conductor, Kellie Walsh. We’ll rehearse Friday evening and Saturday, with a performance Saturday night.
Kellie Walsh is the Founder and Artistic Director of Lady Cove Women’s Choir and the Artistic Director of Shallaway: Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Choir. Kellie enjoys a busy schedule as a workshop clinician and guest conductor, regularly traveling to work with choirs of different genres. She holds Bachelor degrees in both Music and Music Education from Memorial University, in addition to a Masters degree in conducting. Most recently Kellie received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, an award honoring significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
We still have room for a few additional choristers. Choirs involved in this workshop are the Aeolian Singers (Artistic Director, Janet Gaskin); Creative Voices of Truro (Artistic Director, Jacqueline Chambers); as well as Cantatrice Youth Choir (Artistic Director, Kay Newhook-MacDonald).
Women singers interested in this workshop should have very good music reading skills and be confident in a choral setting. Music will be provided.
